Jonah

I joined the army in 1998 and gained 40 lbs. No big deal. It was a lot of muscle. I was doing a lot push ups. Then I went to university, then college, became a paramedic and all along the way ate like crap, drank a bit too much and did very little exercise. By the end of 2010, I was 215 lbs. I was not really happy how I looked, but I figures I was big guy with a big frame and that was my destiny. My bigger concern was my fitness level. I was getting winded going up stairs, I could not keep up with the army’s physical demands, I just felt crappy.
I had done some CrossFit in the past and really enjoyed it, so when I was told there was a gym down the street, I decided to check it out. I met Chris and Kris, and immediately knew this was the place for me to improve my fitness. Both of them are incredibly supportive and have a unique way to motivate you and push you to improve. Its not just them though, the entire gym is a support network that will congratulate you on a good day, push you on a tough day and help you through a rough day. CrossFit culture is about pushing yourself to the limits and working hard to improve. These traits translate well into the world outside the gym.
I was also turned onto the Paleo diet at Square One CrossFit. It has been an incredible and rewarding lifestyle change. I enjoy cooking more and am eating a lot healthier than ever. I am 30 years old now and in the best shape of my life. I have lost 50 lbs, lost 6 inches from my waist and am stronger and faster than even in high school. I look better, feel better, am able to keep up to the demands of the army and being a paramedic. I successfully passed the fitness test, and am now a Tactical Paramedic at work. Square One CrossFit has helped me achieve so many goals. Now I look forward to conquering new ones!
